Shenzhen Eco-Leisure Trail
ECOLOGICAL HIGHLIGHTS
The Eco Leisure Trail explores a vibrant living forest. Eucalyptus such as Lemon-scented Gum (Eucalyptus citriodora) and Swamp Mahogany (Eucalyptus robusta) are the dominant tree species, a result of decades-long reforestation and greening efforts. Natural regeneration is taking place continuously through the spontaneous colonization of native plant species, including Thin Evodia (Melicope pteleifolia), Fragrant Litsea (Litsea cubeba), Ivy Tree (Schefflera heptaphylla), Hairy Fig (Ficus hirta) and Wax Tree (Rhus succedanea).
This natural sanctuary gives shelter to many wildlife species and a dazzling array of birds roosting and feeding in the woods. Butterflies that dance around flowers and Wandering Gliders (Pantala flavescens) that rest on leaves are just part of the beautiful scenery along the trail.
Along the Eco Leisure Trail, various signs have been prepared to disseminate carefully selected ecological information. The signs will introduce the biodiversity and wildlife species along the trial and the threats to their survival.
