BUTTERFLIES
Hainan Butterflies
Hainan has recorded over 600 species of butterflies, which accounts for nearly half of the total species recorded in China. Both the largest and smallest butterflies of China can be found here -- the Golden Birdwing (Troides aeacus) and the Grass Jewel (Freyeria trochylus).
The high diversity of plants of Mission Hills’ mountain provides various hosts for different butterfly species, making it home to many of these gorgeously colorful creatures. When hiking along the Eco-Diversity Trail, visitors can take the time to watch butterflies of different colors and patterns.
